Digital preservation in perspective: management, metadata, and training in the contemporary scenario [Editorial]

Abstract

This editorial introduces Volume 6 (2025) of Revista Brasileira de Preservação Digital, centered on the theme "Digital Preservation in Perspective: Management, Metadata, and Training in the Contemporary Scenario." The issue features four contributions exploring the complexity of digital asset safeguarding: documentary management in photojournalism, technical metadata mapping (PREMIS and Dublin Core), technological curation in historical archives, and the critical need for professional training. Together, these works provide a cohesive diagnosis of how structured policies and technical expertise are vital to mitigating obsolescence and ensuring the integrity of Brazil's digital memory.
